The Champions Hockey League regular season kicked off on 28th and 29th August, thrilling fans with memorable moments over its first two game days. The return of competition to European ice brought overtime finishes, shutouts, and emphatic wins.
On Game Day 1, held on 28th August, travelling teams demonstrated their resilience and defensive strengths. Sparta Prague overcame travel demands, delivering an impressive 4–1 win over KAC Klagenfurt at Heidi Horten-Arena. SC Bern displayed disciplined defense as they secured a 2–0 shutout against Grenoble at Patinoire Polesud. In Belfast, KalPa Kuopio managed to edge past the home team Giants 3–2 in overtime before a lively crowd at The SSE Arena. Ilves Tampere showed consistent control during their 3–1 victory away at ERC Ingolstadt in SATURN-Arena. Pinguins Bremerhaven emerged victorious in overtime against the ZSC Lions Zurich, who had staged a strong comeback but ultimately fell 3–2 in Swiss Life Arena. Kometa Brno delighted their supporters with a comprehensive 4–1 victory over Brynäs IF in Winning Group Arena. Frölunda Gothenburg started their season with a disciplined and focused effort, shutting out HC Bolzano 3–0 at Frölundaborg. Mountfield HK and Odense Bulldogs battled fiercely in ČPP Aréna, with the contest reaching a shootout where Odense prevailed under pressure.
