Bristol Team
Overview.
Club History and Performance Statistics.

The Bristol Pitbulls are an ice hockey team representing Bristol, England, currently competing in the NIHL National League.
Founded in 2009, the team has been guided in recent times by head coach Bari McKenzie, who has overseen a roster of spirited competitors. In the most recent league campaign, the Pitbulls finished 11th. Bayley Harewood emerged as the team’s offensive dynamo, leading in goals with 27, assists with 46, and total points with an impressive 73 over 47 regular season games. Defensive edge was provided by Reece Cochrane, who accumulated 188 penalty minutes in 46 games—a testament to his physical presence on the ice.
In the crease, the Pitbulls relied on a rotation of goaltenders whose performances underpinned the team's defensive efforts. Tommy Napier shouldered the bulk of the work, posting an 89.66% save percentage across 40 games, offering reliability between the pipes. Supporting him, Tyle De La Bertouche appeared in 7 contests with a 65.66% save percentage, while Harry Thomas contributed with an 83.99% mark over 11 games. Owen Rider made 2 appearances, recording a 82.76% save percentage, and James Guest, in a single outing, turned away shots at a 69.39%.
The team's journey has been marked by resilience: after the closure of their original rink in 2012, the Pitbulls relocated to Oxford Ice Rink to continue their campaign. Their return to Bristol in October 2021 marked a significant homecoming, celebrated with a victory on their new ice at the Planet Ice rink, Cribbs Causeway. On 30 October 2021, after 3,492 days without a home fixture in Bristol, goaltender John Dibble led the team onto home ice against the Romford Raiders, where Jay Warren notched the first goal in a decisive 6-1 win. Their upward momentum continued into 2022, with the announcement that the Pitbulls would join the NIHL National League for the 2022/23 season, ushering in an exciting new era for Bristol's premier ice hockey team.
