Club History and Performance Statistics.
Ice hockey has long been a part of Kingston upon Hull’s sporting landscape, with teams rising and falling but leaving behind a passionate community and a tradition of competition. The current torchbearers of this legacy are the Hull Seahawks, a club founded in 2022.

The Hull Seahawks were established in 2022, bringing a new era of ice hockey to the city The Seahawks compete in the NIHL National Division, continuing the tradition of high-level competition in the region.

Before the Seahawks, Hull’s devotion to ice hockey was represented by the Hull Stingrays and later the Hull Pirates
The Hull Stingrays were a cornerstone of the local ice hockey scene for years. However, in June 2015, the team went into liquidation, marking the end of an era and creating a void in the city’s sporting calendar.

Rising from the Stingrays’ dissolution, the Hull Pirates took up the mantle. Following the 2016–17 season and the collapse of the English Premier Ice Hockey League (EPIHL), the Pirates found themselves without a league. They announced their intention to join the National Ice Hockey League (NIHL), ensuring that Hull’s presence in competitive ice hockey would continue.

Unfortunately, during the 2021-2022 season, the Hull Pirates did not compete. The reason was practical: their new arena was not yet ready for play, leaving fans waiting for the return of live ice hockey in their city.

As the 2022–23 season approached, hope returned. t was announced that the Hull Seahawks would take to the ice, competing in the NIHL National Division and effectively taking the place of the Pirates. This transition marked not only a new name but a fresh chapter for the sport in Hull.

Bobby Chamberlain emerged as a powerhouse on the ice, leading the team in goals during the regular season by netting an astonishing 50 goals in 51 games. His physical style of play was equally notable, as he amassed 163 penalty minutes, making his presence felt in every corner of the rink.
Owen Sobchak, another integral figure in the Seahawks' resurgence, graced the ice 53 times and showcased exceptional playmaking ability with an impressive total of 86 assists. When playoff hockey arrived, Sobchak elevated his game further, achieving a team-high 9 goals in just six games and delivering 7 assists, culminating in a remarkable 16 points throughout the postseason—a testament to his consistency and clutch performances. Joshua Hodgkinson added his own grit to the playoff campaign, recording 12 penalty minutes and contributing to the team's resilient spirit.

Anchoring the Seahawks’ defensive efforts were their goaltenders, whose performances were pivotal throughout the season and playoffs. Dmitri Zimozdra stood tall between the pipes, appearing in 31 regular season games and posting a commendable save percentage of 89.75%. Sharing netminding duties was Jordan McLaughlin, who featured in 26 games and registered a save percentage of 88.89%, ensuring the Seahawks remained competitive in every contest.
As the intensity of the postseason mounted, Zimozdra continued to shoulder the bulk of the goaltending responsibilities, guarding the net in five out of six playoff games and recording a save percentage of 84.75%. McLaughlin also contributed in the playoffs, making one appearance and achieving a save percentage of 83.78%.

With the Hull Seahawks finishing the season in a commendable fourth place and their playoff journey concluding in the quarterfinals, Head Coach Matty Davies is poised to capitalise on the team's upward trajectory. The blend of individual brilliance and cohesive teamwork on display last season has laid a strong foundation for the future.
