The WNIHL Elite League stands as the pinnacle of women’s ice hockey competition across the United Kingdom, bringing together six outstanding teams each season in a test of skill, teamwork, and tenacity. Throughout the regular campaign, squads battle for supremacy and the coveted top-four playoff positions, culminating in the exhilarating Championship Weekend every May—a true festival of the sport.

Founded in 2016, the league’s journey began under the title of the Women's Elite League (WEL), with its identity shifting in 2019 to become the WNIHL Elite, reflecting its unique place within the British hockey landscape. Over the years, the league has grown in stature, providing a competitive platform for athletes and a showcase of women’s hockey at its very best.
