Steeldogs Team
Overview.
Club History and Performance Statistics.

The Sheffield Steeldogs are an ice hockey team calling the iceSheffield complex in Sheffield, England, their home. They were founded back in 2010, stepping in after the Sheffield Scimitars had faced some difficulties. The Steeldogs spent their first years playing in the English Premier Ice Hockey League, from 2010 right up to 2017.

In 2017, the team started a new adventure by joining the National Ice Hockey League North, also known as the Moralee Conference. Most of the players are actually local to Sheffield, which gives the team a strong hometown vibe.
Currently, the team is guided by head coach Tony Smith, whose leadership has become a defining feature of the club's recent chapters. Last season, the Steeldogs battled through a competitive league campaign and secured a respectable 6th place finish. Their season culminated with a spirited run to the quarterfinals in the playoffs.

Individually, several players delivered standout performances. In the regular season, Walker Sommer was electric on the ice, appearing in 52 games and finding the net 56 times. His playmaking abilities shone through as well, leading the team with 44 assists and amassing an impressive 100 points—setting a club high for both assists and points. Thomas Barry brought tenacity, stepping up when called upon and tallying 58 penalty minutes, underscoring his physical presence.
When the playoffs arrived, the momentum continued. Sommer maintained his scoring touch, registering 6 goals in as many games and finishing the postseason with a total of 10 points. Jonathan Phillips contributed crucially as a playmaker, setting up 5 goals over 6 playoff contests. Tim Smith’s consistency and discipline were evident as he took to the ice for all six games, recording 6 penalty minutes.

Between the pipes, goaltending duties were shared with determination and skill. During the regular season, Daniel Crowe featured in 21 games, posting a solid 89.06% save percentage. Ben Norton saw the most action, suiting up 23 times and achieving an 88.35% save rate. Curtis Warburton contributed in 11 appearances with an 86.19% save percentage, adding further depth to the team's netminding unit. When the pressure ramped up in the playoffs, Crowe stood tall in goal for all six postseason matches, maintaining an 87.39% save percentage and providing a reliable last line of defence for the Steeldogs.
