TEAMS OVERVIEW

BRISTOL PITBULLS 2 

 

Founded in 2010, the Bristol Pitbulls 2 serve as the affiliate club for the main Bristol Pitbulls team. Their home is Planet Ice Bristol. Guided by coach Stuart Spells, the team continually strives to develop its talent and compete at a high level. In their most recent season, the Pitbulls 2 finished in 9th place, securing 3 victories. The season saw its share of challenges, with 12 regulation losses, but included moments of resilience such as a win in overtime and two additional overtime losses that demonstrated the team's fighting spirit and determination.

CARDIFF CANNUCKS 

​

Founded in 2024, the Cardiff Cannucks are one of the league’s newest additions, playing their home games at the Vindico Arena under the leadership of coach Trevor Hendrikx. In their inaugural season, the Cannucks impressed many by finishing 6th in the regular standings and making a strong run to the playoff semifinals, a remarkable achievement for a new club. Their campaign included 7 wins, 10 losses, and an overtime victory, laying a solid foundation as they look to build momentum and establish themselves as contenders in the seasons ahead.

CHELMSFORD WARRIORS 

​

Founded in 2005, the Chelmsford Warriors are coached by Craig Metcalf and play their home games at the Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre. Serving as the affiliate club to the Chelmsford Chieftains, the Warriors have steadily developed their program and showcased emerging talent. Last season, they secured 8th place in the regular season standings and advanced to the quarterfinals of the playoffs. Their record featured 4 wins and 11 losses, complemented by 2 overtime victories and 1 overtime loss.

GUILDFORD PHOENIX 

​

Formed in 2017, Guildford Phoenix serve as the affiliate side of the Guildford Flames and play their home games at the Spectrum Arena. Under the guidance of coach Stuart Potts, the Phoenix have rapidly established themselves as a dominant force within the league. In their most recent campaign, the team finished the regular season as league winners, demonstrating extraordinary consistency and prowess on the ice with 15 victories, 2 overtime wins, and only a single loss in overtime. Despite this stellar regular season, the Phoenix ultimately finished as runners-up in the playoffs, narrowly missing out on the championship but solidifying their reputation as perennial contenders with a talented and resilient squad.

HARINGEY HUSKIES 

​

Replacing the Racers and established in 2017, the Haringey Huskies have brought new energy to North London’s storied Alexandra Palace. Under the direction of coach Lee Mercer, the Huskies have grown into formidable competitors. In their latest campaign, they finished 3rd in the regular season and advanced to the quarterfinals of the playoffs. Their impressive tally of 14 victories, balanced against just 4 losses, highlights their consistency and prowess. Building on this strong showing, the Huskies continue to blend tradition and ambition as they strive for further success.

INVICTA MUSTANGS 

​

Established in 1998, the Invicta Mustangs are affiliated with the Invicta Dynamos and call the Gillingham Ice Bowl their home. Led by coach Alastair Rodger, the Mustangs have cultivated a legacy of competitive spirit and steady progress in the league. Their most recent season saw them secure an impressive 4th place finish in the regular standings, notching up 10 wins against 7 losses and enduring a single overtime defeat. The Mustangs' strong performance carried them into the quarterfinals.

LEE VALLEY LIONS 

​

Founded in 1984, the Lee Valley Lions have a proud legacy within British ice hockey, highlighted by their remarkable triumph in the Heineken British Division One Trophy during the 1985-86 season. Currently guided by coach Simon Jones, the Lions play their home games at the Lee Valley Ice Centre and remain deeply rooted in the local community. Their recent campaign proved challenging, as the team finished 10th in the league standings, managing a single victory alongside 16 losses and one overtime defeat.

MILTON KEYNES THUNDER 

​

Founded in 2001, Milton Keynes Thunder have experienced their share of highs and lows in British ice hockey. Their home at Planet Ice Milton Keynes remains a cornerstone for the sport in the region. Now under the stewardship of coach Will Fry, the Thunder are adjusting to life in the NIHL 2 South division after a challenging campaign in NIHL 1 South last season. Their most recent record just one win against thirty-four losses.

OXFORD RISING STARS 

​

Founded in 2010 to provide a platform for players graduating from the Oxford Stars junior sides, the Oxford Rising Stars play a crucial role in helping young athletes bridge the gap to senior-level hockey. The team benefits from a diverse trio of coaches—Christopher Beal, Heidi Radburn, and Jeff Sykora—whose combined expertise guides their development both on and off the ice. In their most recent campaign, the Rising Stars finished 5th in the standings, advancing all the way to the semifinals. Along the way, they recorded 7 wins, 10 losses, and one overtime victory, a testament to their determination and capacity for growth as they continue to evolve within the league.

PETERBOROUGH PHANTOMS 2 

​

Coached by Nathan Pollard out of Planet Ice Peterborough, the Phantoms 2 were formed in 1996 as affiliates of the Peterborough Phantoms. Their reputation for resilience and high performance was well earned this past season: after finishing second in the regular league standings, they surged through the playoffs to capture the championship title. The Phantoms 2 compiled an outstanding regular season record—15 wins, just 1 loss, 1 overtime victory and a single overtime defeat—demonstrating both consistency and the ability to rise to the occasion in crucial moments.

SLOUGH SPITFIRES 

​

The newest face in the NIHL, the Slough Spitfires, take flight in 2025 as they embark on their inaugural season. Guided by coach Simon Beere and serving as the affiliate side to the Slough Jets, the Spitfires are poised to carve out their own chapter in British ice hockey. As they prepare to navigate the challenges and opportunities of their first campaign, anticipation surrounds the team and the fresh energy they bring to the league. All eyes will be on the Spitfires as they set out to establish their identity and make their mark from day one. We wish them every success in their debut season.

SOLENT DEVILS 2 

​

Based out of Gosport Arena, the Solent Devils 2 established themselves in the British ice hockey landscape since their formation in 2019. Serving as the affiliate side to the Solent Devils and under the direction of coach Drew Campbell. Last season, the Devils 2 secured a 7th place finish, earning a spot in the quarterfinals. Their campaign was marked by determination, resulting in 7 wins and 11 losses, with one of those defeats coming in overtime.
