Swindon Team
Overview.

Club History and Performance Statistics.

The Swindon Wildcats are a distinguished professional ice hockey organisation situated in Swindon, Wiltshire, England, and currently compete within the National Ice Hockey League (NIHL). Established in 1986, coinciding with the inauguration of the Link Centre, the Wildcats have held their home fixtures at this notable 1,600-capacity venue in West Swindon since their inception.

In 1997, the club joined the English Premier Ice Hockey League (EPIHL), where they remained active members until 2017. Following the conclusion of the 2016–17 season and subsequent instability within the EPIHL, the organisation formally announced its intention to transition to the National League.

Currently under the guidance of head coach Aaron Nell, the Wildcats have continued to demonstrate formidable performances on the ice. In the most recent season, Swindon secured an impressive third-place finish in the regular league standings, underlining their consistency and competitive edge. Despite this strong showing, the team narrowly missed out on a place in the finals, exiting the playoffs at the semifinal stage after a hard-fought campaign.

The recent campaign was marked by outstanding individual performances across the roster. Forward Jake Bricknell proved to be a prolific scorer, appearing in all 54 regular season games and netting 57 goals, while also amassing a remarkable 107 points—the highest total of any player on the team. Bricknell's prowess continued into the playoffs, where he added 6 goals in 7 appearances, further solidifying his pivotal role.

Tomasz Malasinski showcased exceptional playmaking skills, participating in 51 regular season games and assisting on 55 goals. His influence was equally apparent during the playoffs, where he, alongside Balint Pakozdi, recorded a team-leading 7 assists across all 7 postseason contests. Malasinski also topped the team's points tally in the playoffs, underlining his consistency and impact in high-stakes situations.

Defensively, Tyler Plews was a formidable presence, playing 53 regular season games and accumulating 85 minutes in the penalty box—a testament to his robust style of play. Edgar Bebris distinguished himself during the playoffs by receiving 10 penalty minutes, reflecting the intensity of postseason competition.

In goal, Renny Marr was a stalwart, appearing in 49 regular season games and registering an impressive save percentage of 91.04%. Supporting the goaltending unit, Tyler Perre featured in 12 games and posted a save percentage of 89.47%, while Ben Clarke-Leach made a single appearance, recording a 90.24% save percentage. During the playoffs, Marr continued to anchor the Wildcats, playing 6 out of 7 games with a save percentage of 90.59%. Perre contributed in one playoff match, achieving a notable 92.50% save percentage.

These individual achievements, combined with the squad’s collective efforts, were instrumental in Swindon’s strong league finish and spirited playoff run, exemplifying the club's enduring competitive spirit.
