A BIT, ABOUT.

Here in the 'A BIT, ABOUT...' sections found across the site, are there to give you, literally 'A BIT, ABOUT' the league section you have selected.

NIHL 2 represents the fourth step in the British ice hockey pyramid, structured into two distinct divisions: North (Laidler) and South (Wilkinson). The North (Laidler) division is home to 8 clubs, while the South (Wilkinson) features 12. Each season, the champions of both divisions earn promotion to Division 1 North or Division 1 South, respectively. Importantly, there is no relegation from NIHL 2, allowing clubs the stability to develop and compete without the threat of dropping down the pyramid.

In recent years, a handful of clubs have emerged as dynamic additions to the NIHL 2 landscape, injecting fresh energy into the sport and nurturing the next generation of British ice hockey talent. These relatively new teams are not only expanding the reach of the game, but also providing invaluable opportunities for young players to hone their skills and transition into the higher tiers of competition. Through their commitment to grassroots development, these clubs are helping to forge stronger links between local communities and the national ice hockey scene, ensuring that the future of the sport remains vibrant and accessible across the UK.
