NIHL
Coming out of the NIHL this weekend starting on Friday nights match ups. Sheffield Steeldogs and Peterborough phantoms got things underway with a high scoring game ended up with overtime and shootout having to be the decider with game tied up at 5-5 after 60 minutes played, OT couldn’t separate these two. The wining penalty from what I saw on the socials was tucked away nicely, with a skate up which was meandering round the ice like the amazon river bending around the rainforest of south America. 6-5 the final score.
On Saturday Leeds Knights travelled to Bristol to take on the Pitbulls with the Knights taking a 8-2 lead back home to South Yorkshire. MK Lightning hosted Solway sharks at the ‘Thunderdome’, a bit of trip down south for the sharks who went back home with a 4-0 defeat, as MK continue their strong start to this campaign. The Phantoms were back in action on Saturday night this time a home match against Telford Tigers, yet again Peterborough digging in dig and going to OT for a second night in a row. This time the game did not have to go to SO the final result 5-4. Swindon wildcats continue their storming start to the season with a 5-4 win against the Romford raiders to round of Saturdays night action.
Sundays action contained a lot of goals across all the games. MK lightning travelled to Hull to face the Seahawks with the game tied up at 2-2 it ended up going to OT with the Lightning taking the win 3-2 to round off a winning weekend. Notably shoutout to MK netminder for making his debut this weekend. Leeds Knights, what a weekend on the attacking side of their game with another 8 goals being scored against the Pitbulls equating to 16 goals for the weekend. Bristol grabbed two goals for themselves, showing that the Knights are strong in defence to match alongside the strong attacking presence, setting the tone early in this campaign. The Romford Raiders and Solway Sharks had a close-high-scoring encounter, ensuring fans got their money’s worth, but probably at the cost of their stress levels with the game ended 7-6 to the Raiders at the Sapphire Ice and Leisure centre. Basingstoke bison travelled up the motorway to face Telford Tigers, yet again goals goals goals in this fixture. The Bison have had a strong start returning back this season to the NIHL but were unfortunate on this occasion looing out 7-5 to the Tigers.

Down on the Streatham High Road the RedHawks were back at home on the weekend this time against Slough Jets. This was a hard fought encounter with both sides tied at 3-3 going into overtime, when the RedHawks took the overtime win as the game finished up a 4-3.

I will not comment on what took place, as I have not seen any footage, have not spoken to anyone from the clubs, officials, league or players involved.
