Elite League Results
Starting off on Saturday 4th October, The Glasgow Clan travelled down to Guildford to face the flames. Unfortunately they were unable to take a win back home to Glasgow. Jack Jacome got the scoring underway with the Flames scoring five in total. Tyler Busch got one on the powerplay with Cole Ully scoring a penalty, Matthieu Gosselin added a fourth with Josh Nixon scoring on an empty net. Jason Fram grabbed a goal for the Clan on the powerplay. Final score Guildford Flames win 5 – 1.
Dundee were the first Scottish visitors to Sheffield this weekend, when the Steelers took on the stars. The Steelers put on a dominant display scoring six in this matchup. Jordon Southorn scored Sheffield’s first on the powerplay. Kevin Tansey added a second, with Evan Jasper adding a third on the powerplay. Jordon Southorn got his second of the night and the Steelers fourth whilst on the powerplay once more. Ryan Tait got the fifth on the night with a short-handed goal. Joona Huttula rounded off the scoring to six for the Steelers. Johnathan McBean scored the only goal of the night for Dundee Stars.
On Sunday’s fixtures we had Glasgow Clan making the homeward journey north but they stopped off in Sheffield along the way to create a action packed game with a close scoreline. The Glasgow Clan won this one 3 – 2 in Sheffield with Hugo Roy getting on the scoresheet, Deven Sideroff got the second for Glasgow and Brayden Burke’s third for the Clan was to be the important goal. Dominic Cormier got the scoring underway for Sheffield with Stephen Harper adding a second goal for the Steelers on the powerplay.
In Manchester, Fife Flyers were the visitors. A comfortable win for the Manchester Storm in this Sunday fixture with the Storm winning 6 – 1. Brandon Cutler got the scoring underway for Manchester and was soon joined by Brady Gilmour who managed to grab the second and third goals for the Storm. J.D Dudek got himself on the scoresheet once more this season with the fourth and Brandon Cutler got his second of the net on the powerplay.
Kaleb Ergang got the sixth goal on the night for Manchester storm. Keaton Jameson got the only goal for the Flyers as they travel home after this league defeat without any points.
Challenge Cup
In the Challenge Cup matchups on Saturday Cardiff Devils and Coventry Blaze played out a thrilling contest. With the Blaze winning this on 6 – 5. Alessio Luciani got the first goal for Coventry with Matthew Gleason and Sam Ruffin adding to the goal totals. Jack Hopkins got the fourth goal for Coventry and Colton Saucerman in fine form this season got the fifth with Grant Mismash scoring the decisive sixth goal for Coventry Blaze to ensure victory. Ryan Barrow got two on the night for the Devils, with Brett Perlini and Brandon Estes continuing the fine scoring this season. Sam Duggan got the fifth goal for the devils in this game.
In Nottingham at the Motorpoint Arena, Manchester Storm were the visitors on this occasion with The storm beating the Panthers 6 – 3. Gary Haden got the first two goal on the night for the Storm with Brady Gilmour and Chase Harrison adding to the goals. Kaleb Ergang and Joseph Nardi rounded off the scoring for Manchester on the night. Brendan Harris got himself a goal on the night for the Panthers with David Neol and Mitchell Fossier also finding the back of the net.
Fife hosted Belfast in this game which ensured the fans got their moneys worth! The game going all the way to a shootout with the Flyers taking the win 4 – 3. Mason Alderson got the scoring underway for the Flyers with Johan Porsberger adding the second. Ian Scheid got the third. In overtime either side could find the net so up stepped Keaton Jameson in goof form at the start of this season with the shootout winner. For the Giants, Mike Lee got a goal on the powerplay with teammate Ryan Smith grabbing the second for Belfast. Jake Gaudet got the third goal for the Giants but lost out in the shootout.
On Sunday, the Panthers travelled over to Wales to face the Devils. Nottingham took the win in this game with a great 5 – 0 away win against a strong Devils side. Didrik Henbrant opened the scoring with Tim Doherty getting a goal on the powerplay. Matthew Marcinew added a third on the night. Mitchell Fossier got himself on the scoresheet again with a empty netter. Zsombor Garat rounded up the scoring with a powerplay goal.
Belfast lost out in a shootout once more this weekend this time to Dundee Stars. The game was tied at 4 -4 before Dundee took the win 5 – 4. Matt berry got the first for the Stars, Morten Jurgen added a second. Kameron Kielly got the third with Hampus Olsson scoring the fourth on the night for the Dundee Stars. Jordan Kawaguchi grabbed two goals for the Giants. Ryan Smith and Nicholas Guay with the other two goals for Belfast. Drydn Dow got the winning goal in the shootout for the Stars.
They say things come in three’s and we got out third shootout in the Challenge Cup this weekend. Coventry Blaze and Guildford Storm faced off against each other with Grant Mismash opening the scoring for the Blaze. Sean Comrie got the only goal on the night for the Flames. Jere Vertanen got the deciding goal in the shootout after both sides were scoreless in overtime.
