Project Clarity: A Fresh Start for UK Ice Hockey

A NEW DAWN FOR ICE HOCKEY IN THE UK.
A NEW DAWN FOR ICE HOCKEY IN THE UK.

Big changes could be coming to ice hockey across the UK. There’s a plan in the works—called Project Clarity—to bring together Ice Hockey UK (IHUK), England Ice Hockey (EIH), and Scottish Ice Hockey (SIH) into one group. The idea? To make things simpler, stronger, and more accountable, with the hope of kicking things off in 2026. Project Clarity is all about giving a boost to both top-level play and local clubs, and it’s set to shake up how the sport is run for the better.

Project Clarity wants to help clubs grow and get more involved in their local areas. With better resources and more support, clubs can become real community centres, offering more for players, fans, and everyone who loves the game.

Money matters, and this merger aims to open up new ways to fund the sport and make sure the cash gets used wisely. New funding opportunities are essential to the growth of UK ice hockey.

One of the big goals is to make ice hockey more welcoming to everyone, no matter who you are or where you come from. By breaking down barriers and making things more accessible, Project Clarity hopes more people will give the sport a try.

They’re also aiming to keep things above board by keeping up with the latest standards from UK Sport and Sport England. That way, everyone can have confidence that the sport’s being run fairly and openly.

Sure, bringing together three different organisations isn’t going to be easy. There are different ways of working and lots of history to consider. But with open conversations and a focus on what’s best for the sport, there’s a real chance to do something great.

Project Clarity could be a real game-changer. With more resources, more people involved, and a clearer plan for the future, ice hockey in the UK could set an example for other sports. The hope is to see more kids, adults, and fans getting involved—and maybe see some new stars on the ice, too!

If project clarity can really take shape it could completely change the future for ice hockey in the UK and once and for all, bring together and unite the kingdoms of the home nations.

Once this goal is achieved we will have a formidable force for the world stage in years to come and become a force to be reckoned with.
